Vani Chetty Joins International Law Firm Baker & McKenzie LLP, Stepping Down From the Capital Eye Board

Vani has been practicing law for over 20 years. Starting her own firm in 2007, Vani Chetty Competition Law, Vani has gained extensive experience in advising local and foreign firms in all competition-related issues representing, inter alia, leading petroleum, milling, tire, steel, technology, bitumen and fertilizer industry players.

Vani is also heavily involved in competition policy implementation; co-chairing the subgroup on competition policy implementation for the International Chamber of Commerce Commission to the International Competition Network; and has been a regular speaker at the American Bar Association and at annual meetings of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development.

“Vani is not only a recognised expert in competition law but has a strong international client base which she has built single-handedly,” says Samantha Mobley, chair of Baker & McKenzie’s global antitrust and competition practice group. “We are excited that she will be joining our team and providing strategic leadership to help our clients expand their operations in South Africa and the rest of the continent.”

Vani Chetty was appointed to the Capital Eye Investments (“CEI”) Board in March 2007, and steps down with effect from 1 August 2014. While Vani’s presence on the CEI Board will be notably missed, CEI wishes her all the success in her new role, and looks forward to continuing a relationship with Vani in her capacity as an internationally recognised, leading competition lawyer.
